Find my way to go

The first question my sister asked about India is, “Is there war?” -_-… For a place where you have no idea at all, you tend to think it’s dangerous. I have to clear that people in this city live in a different lifestyle, but in a safe way.

It's been two weeks since I came to Hyderabad. This is really an exotic world for me. In my first week, I kept complaining to Even that every shop looks the same for me. “Where are the restaurants? Where do they sale clothes?” I asked. “It’s everywhere. It’s just you didn’t notice,” said Even. I didn’t go blind in India. I found the reason is that this place is too messy for me so my eyes just concentrate on the road. I didn’t have spare mind to care about the shops. For Hong Kong people, imagine you pass by Chung King Mansion (Kowloon) where many Indians flush to you, handing you the menus, can you at the same time see the shops nearby? You just want to find your way out.

So far everything is better than I expected except for traffic. I just left Hong Kong where the mass transportation is one of the best around the world. Now I am in a city that there are many places where even the local people don’t know how to go.

In the first week, I took auto wherever I go. (*Indian Dictionary—auto: a three wheels yellow car with the function of taxi, but it’s not taxi.) It’s very expensive to take auto so now I try to take bus to work. I give good credit to Indian men on the bus because they usually have female the seats and they would rather jam in the back or hang on the door than stay in the empty front. They leave the front for female passengers. The way that Indian guys get on a bus is like performing Chinese Kon Fu. They jump on and jump down the bus even it’s still running. That’s one of the amazing skills Indians have.

It’s unbelievable that you can hardly find a traffic light for pedestrians. There is no foot bridge as well. Want to cross the road? Fight with the running car! I still feel frustrated when crossing the road. If there is cram school to teach people how to cross the road. I’m there!

For people who are curious about are there cattles walking on the street. The answer is: Yes, but very few in my city where many Muslims live.

Ok, that’s the traffic in HYD.
